"I have the latest exit polls", the Senator began his remarks, "Bush is exiting ... Cheney is exiting ... McCain is exiting ..."
In a rousing victory speech before cheering crowds last night at the Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston, Senator Kerry thanked his family and his supporters, and talked about the historic night and the work yet to come. He spoke about the challenges of the past and the fight he and we have kept up these past four years. The Senator's own win was announced early, as expected, and Obama had not yet been declared President-elect at the time of JK's speech. But I think he knew, like the rest of us, that this was going to be a huge night for Dems.

It's going to take a while to clean up the mess of the past eight years and it's not going to be easy, but as the Senator reminded us, last night was the beginning of the change he spoke of early this year when he endorsed Barack Obama, noting that he would a 'transformational' president.
It will take a lot of work to heal this country, and not Barack Obama or John Kerry or any of the people we elected last night are going to be able to do it alone. It's going to take all of us, even the ones who aren't yet on board. But we will make it happen together, just like Americans have always done during the most challenging times in our history.
Yes, we can.
