While most Bay Staters, including yours truly, sat in front of our televisions, watching the Patriots eek out a win despite a season-ending and horrifying injury to our beloved Tom Brady,
two equally beloved homestaters were hanging out at a Democratic barbeque in Hopkinton.
Governor Patrick hosted the fundraising event at the New England Laborer's Training Center, and it was billed as "an afternoon of summer fun with friends and family."
John Walsh, party chair, was seen sporting a Kerry button. So I would guess it is safe to say that he and the MA Dem party are fully behind Senator Kerry's re-election!
Judging by the video, they managed to hit all criteria - friends, family, good summer weather, and most definitely fun! Both the governor and JK kidded around off-script and appeared to genuinely enjoy themselves. Even with the more serious speeches they gave, it was clear that they were in their element.
This being a Grassroots event after all, the Grassroots efforts were definitely in full swing as well! Public school teacher and activist, Mary Cummings snagged a number of notables, including JK, for signatures to vote no on question 1, a ballot initiative to eliminate Massachusetts income tax. (An asinine move of epic proportions, and it has no place on the ballot in November.) For more pictures of JK and the Governor signing Mary's petition, check out this thread over at BMG.
