I have to start by saying that I think JK did an exceptional job on Face the Nation Sunday, explaining and defending Sen. Obama's position on Iraq. There's no doubt about it. He countered every criticism with the truth, and came away the winner.
But what if the media was liberal?
If the media was liberal, would the interview have started with the host questioning John McCain's position on Iraq? It is, after all, in sharp contrast with the majority of the American people's views. McCain is defending the Bush policies that almost everyone knows have failed miserably, and wants to continue Bush's war indefinitely, despite the cost in blood and treasure. Americans don't want a war, especially an unnecessary one. We want to fill our gas tanks and go to work. If the media was liberal, would they talk about that?
If the media was liberal, would Bob Schieffer have asked Lindsey Graham what the hell 'in a box' means? He said it three times, so he must have meant something by it. But I still don't know, because it wasn't explained. Obama is "in a box", "in a box", "in a box". Lindsey, the liberal media would like you to explain what you mean by that. And while you're at it, will you tell us what 'winning the war' in Iraq means? You keep saying it, but no one has questioned you on the specifics. I'll bet the liberal media, if there was one, would like to have a crack at that. And when Republicans like Lindsey Graham, resort to their old standby bogey man "Moveon.org", would the liberal media say, "Aren't they the people who want to end the war and involve people in democracy? Will you explain what it is about that you don't like, Sen. Graham?"
If the media was liberal, when JK was asked about considering McCain as a running-mate in 2004, would they have noted that it was before McCain aligned himself with The Liars and took their money? Would they have said 'good thing you didn't'?
If the media was liberal, when JK mentioned that the heads of state of Middle Eastern countries he just visited criticized the inept policies of the US in Iraq, would it have been further discussed? It sounded pretty important, since they're the neighbors of the country we invaded. Instead of changing the subject, would the liberal media have asked, "What else did they say?"
And if the media was liberal, instead of asking the Senator if he was questioning John McCain's integrity, would they have asked Lindsey Graham if he was questioning Obama's?

When the Republicans say "Bush tax cuts" would they say, "You mean the ones for the rich?"
When they hide behind the troops, would the liberal media say, "The troops you voted against when you didn't support the Webb amendment?"
When Republicans talk about gas prices, would they note that gas prices have tripled since Bush took office? Would they ask why John McCain frequently goes flag pin-less, or bring up his renowned bad temper, or his voting record against the middle class, or his questionable past associations?
Wouldn't it be nice if, just once, the 'liberal' media was?

Thank goodness for John Kerry. A honest and decent Senator and on the top of my list still for President. What is it with the Schieffers asking such obnoxious questions "are you questioning Sen McCain's interigity?" Is he getting his questions from Bud Day? Maybe Mr Shieffer needs to do a little reseach on how Sen McCain turned on John Kerry for political reasons. Maybe you can send him some info.
Sen Kerry predictions and strategy for Iraq has been proven right. By the way don't let Sen McCain get away with taking credit for being the only one who thought Rumsfield had to go and for being the only one who said that we didn't have enough troops in the begining of the war. The media is beleiving it. Sen John Kerry was way ahead McCain and most on both points.
