Negative Numbers

Actually 23 is the number, and it's the percentage of voters in Texas and Ohio who decided to vote for Hillary Clinton in the three days prior to Tuesday's election.

"If you're being attacked every day, it creates a sense of turbulence in the minds of people," Barack Obama was quoted by USA Today. "We do things differently. It's worked for us so far," he said. "I'm not going to do things that I'm not comfortable in doing."

Obama will stay positive. That's good to hear.

As difficult as it is to believe, there are people who still think that smearing your opponent with false accusations and baseless innuendo is a proper way to run a campaign for President of this country. Negative campaigning seems to have worked for the Clintons on Tuesday, when fear mongering ads and debunked rumors hit the airwaves in the week prior to the election, fueled by the media's desire to keep the public questioning. Negative campaigning may have helped the Clintons to a win in Rhode Island and Ohio, but it's not what the American people are looking for in a President. What they're looking for is the truth.

The truth is that there is nothing in Hillary Clinton's resume that better qualifies her to protect your sleeping children from harm, in fact there is less. When you consider she's expressed a reluctance to talk to our enemies, she sounds a bit more like her pal 'Bomb, bomb Iran' McCain than someone who is willing to repair our foreign relations.

The truth is that the Canadian government has confirmed that the statement about trade attributed to someone from the Obama campaign and flogged by Sen. Clinton and her surrogates was never made.

And the truth is that the Obamas paid about 15% below the asking price for their home in Chicago after their third bid on the property. Probably close to the same deal as most of us got on our own home purchases. In fact, it might be best for the Clintons to drop the whole Rezko non-story, as their donor ties are looking a little shady.

But the Clintons aren't letting the truth get in the way, and chief Clinton smear merchant Terry McAuliffe made sure the rumors stayed in the news. As Senator Kerry says, it's pretty desperate.

I really hope that the American people aren't looking for another four years of the same old Washington politics. I also hope that Tuesday's numbers are not a reflection of the Limbaugh effect, because our primaries are supposed to represent the will of the people, not some sneaky right wing gamesmanship. The truth is that the Republicans are looking to run against our weakest candidate, and they'll do whatever it takes to see Hillary v. McCain in November. What's sad is that the Clintons are willing to risk a McCain win to do the same.

The good news is that Obama has a significant delegate lead, even after Tuesday. Despite the last few days negative turn by the Clintons, the American people still believe that we need change in Washington, and that Barack Obama is the person to bring it.

Thanks for having this web site. I am glad that Sen. Kerry is doing so much for our Country and it is nice reading about it here.

I don't know what Sen. Clinton thinks she is doing, she must have lost it to bring up Ken Starr and Whitewater. It is such a depressing flash back of the how low the Democratic Party sank. It is no good for her to blame others.

I hope in the end of the day people keep the faith and still want a positive leader like Sen. Obama to guide our Country. You know after reading all the praise about William F Buckley from the conservatives, it made me think and realize such praise for a fellow democrat who would never happen in the Democratic Party. Instead of embracing an imaginative thinker, a person who is blazing a new path, they would be mocked as Sen. Clinton did of Sen. Obama. It would be worthwhile for these political insiders to listen but they have their reasons not to. The Democratic Party has to make a choice of who they are - making our Country better by bringing us together to solve problems and giving hope to future generations or the same old politics of blaming and criticizing. Sen. Clinton might make people jump to her side but its not the same as leading people. Pres. Bush makes people jump to his side and see how great things turned out.

I am glad that Sen. Kerry is in there arguing that the democrats choose to have faith in themselves and the new generation. It was a risky not to support the political insiders favorite. But as he said "It is always the right time to do the right thing"
