Sixty

That's the magic number. Sixty seats in the Senate, and we can stop the Roadblock Republicans record obstruction.

Not only is 60 the magic number, it's an achievable one. But it won't be easy.

There are 35 Senate seats up for grabs in November, and 23 of those belong to Republicans. Of the 23 Republican seats, there is a good possibility that we'll pick up the ten we need to break through the roadblock. It helps us immensely that all of these Republicans, who have voted in consistently with Bush's policies, are faced with a fired-up opposition. Dems are angry, and with good reason. If that translates into votes, we will soon be rid of obstructionists like this:

Elizabeth Dole (R-NC) voted against children's health care, against all legitimate attempts to end the war in Iraq, against the Medicare prescription drug plan, and against increasing the minimum wage. She also voted against habeus corpus, stem cell research, veterans, LIHEAP, transit and cargo security and the environment.

But she did vote for every Bush appointee.

Here's a look at Senator Dole's potential challengers, NC Senator Kay Hagan and Jim Neal. I haven't yet picked a favorite, but then I don't have a vote in NC. Both have a lot of info on their sites, though, and either would help bring positive chance to the U.S. Senate.

Bye Elizabeth.

Liddy Dole is old, feeble and addled...she needs to be replaced. I think Kay Hagan, co-chair of the Appropriations Committee in the North Carolina Senate is just the one to unseat this old wind-bag!

I see this opportunity to increase our numbers in the Senate as our best shot to really bring about honest and lasting change in America, globally and in Washington. Count me in. I am ready to bulldoze these Roadblock Republicans.

It's time to get Dole out - NC is going blue in 2008 and Jim Neal is the one that can beat her! North Carolina is ready for change, it's time we get career politicians like Sen. Dole out of office and elect a Senator that isn't entirely out of touch with the real issues facing NC citizens. Dole can keep her Watergate apartment - but let's get her out of the Senate!
