First, the big news. The Red Sox won the World Series in a four game sweep over the Colorado Rockies last night. I have to admit that I was a bit nervous going into this series after that incredible winning streak the Rockies had going, and last night's game was a nail-biter, but they were just no match for the Sox.
Congratulations to the Boston Red Sox on an amazing season, and thanks to both teams for a great Series.
It was an important week for the Senator, who made his way to western Massachusetts to meet with residents and the press. There was some excellent coverage by the local media which we detailed in a previous post.
JK uncovered two opportunities this week to shine a light on some potentially shady business, first with revelations of possible tax evasion by Blackwater and separately in calling for the administration to explain why an IG report on on fraud involving a lender was heavily redacted. Both stories involve the SBA, so we expect the Senator, as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, to stay on top of this.
There were two awards this week for the Kerrys. JK was honored by Small Business California for his work on climate change, and Teresa was awarded the Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy. Congratulations to both.
The Senator teamed up with Sen. Obama on the media consolidation issue, with Sen. Snowe on small business health care, and with Sen. Kennedy to honor the Little Rock Nine.
Busy guy.
Oh, and it appears they'll be grilling some Colorado beef in Boston this week. Yum.
The Senator will speak at the Council on Foreign Relations at 1:00 today, focusing on global climate change in preparation for international climate change talks in Bali in December.
