Support the Troops - End the War

Yesterday, people from all over the country gathered to urge Congress and all of us to help end the war in Iraq. On Pittsburgh's North Side, we gathered at the Allegheny Unitarian Universalist Church, to urge Representative Tim Murphy to listen to his constituents and help bring an end to the conflict. From the speakers' experience, he doesn't seem very receptive.

The speakers included a Vietnam vet, a Gold Star Mom, some Raging Grannies. a Catholic priest and representatives from both Rep. Mike Doyle's and Senator Bob Casey's offices. Watch the video and let your Congress people know that if they want to support the troops, they'll end this war.

Yesterday's gathering was part of Americans Against Escalation in Iraq's Town Halls and MoveOn.org's End It in September Vigils, a grassroots effort modeled on the “Freedom Summer” civil rights campaign and the more recent initiative against privatizing Social Security. More information is available at the AAEI and MoveOn.org websites.

Nice post. Tim Murphy is my representitive and I can also state that he doesn't care about our opinions. I write to him and never get a response, I have to assume that is because he doesn't agree with me and doesn't feel there is a need to explain himself to a Democrat. The word Senator Kerry used to describe President Bush recently- ignorant, comes to mind when I think about Roadblock Republican Murphy.

FYI - JK got a nice hat tip on Olbermann tonight from Jonathan Alter, regarding something he said about New Orleans a while back, and what he would have done if he had been the pres.

It was nice to hear him getting credit.

There's no link yet, but it was in the first segment.
