"... nothing so graces the White House in six years as Karl Rove leaving it."
McClatchy nails it once again with a spot-on commentary on the excision of Bush's Brain.
I hardly know what to say. Since the big goodbye, I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out what 'ol Turdblossom has up his stubby sleeve. Oh, he's not gone, and I'd be comfortable placing a bet on that. But what is the Architect building, now that his latest project's gone bust?
Remains to be seen, I suppose. I'll keep a weather eye on him, that's for sure. He's spent the last 35 years or so skirting the law with innovative ways to undermine Dems. I sincerely doubt he's going to "spend more time with the family". For now, though, I'll just allow myself time to revel in his leaving and just a bit recalling his past, lest we forget.
To draw once again from McClatchy, "Adios, Karl Rove. We shall know you by the rotten fruits of your labors." or as Will said to Captain Jack, "it'll linger."
There have been many who have commented on Rove's departure. As it's Sunday morning, here are some thoughts from Bill Moyers, an ordained minister, on how Rove used the religious right to put George Bush in office, all the while abandoning the principle that is the basis of Christianity and every major religion.
Of course, Karl is agnostic, not that there's anything wrong with that. It probably made it easier to use religion for partisan political purposes. Still, the Golden Rule is universal, and doesn't belong to any one religious denomination or to religion at all, really. I hope Karl will have plenty of time to reflect on it.
Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them ...
Matthew 7:12
One final comment, which we've highlighted in today's video, is from Senator Kerry, and bears repeating.
“It’s a tragedy that an Administration that promised to unite Americans has instead left us more divided than ever before. Without doubt the architect of that political strategy was Karl Rove, who proved the politics of division may win some elections but cannot govern America. Rather than having answered serious questions about his role in selling the ill-advised war in Iraq or the firing of Republican US Attorneys who put the Constitution ahead of the Republican Party, Rove joins Paul Wolfowitz, Donald Rumsfeld and Michael Brown who were shielded from accountability at all costs. Unanswered questions and political division are Rove’s legacy.”

I have long been a detractor of the disingenuous Mr. Rove. Or, if you prefer, I can't stand the SOB. But I agree with you, he is not gone just changing his tactics. He's still pushing buttons and influencing policy for the RNC and the Bush administration. It remains to be seen just what he's up to. I'm not surprised that he is an agnostic. You could not be as mean spirited and hateful or destroy another's good name for your own personal gain if you believed in a God who exacted retribution for your sins and Who could send you to eternal damnation as Karl's Right Wing radical friends preach. Oh crap, now we have the anticipation of the return of Osama and Karl! Each bent on destroying America in their own special ways!

Why is Karl Rove afraid to testify before Congress?

ProSense, IMO, the house of Bush is a house of cards. Rove may be the one that, when removed, sends the whole damn thing crashing down.
Snowe's leaving, too. I think he probably couldn't take the corruption. He's a crony, but it's possible there's a heart in there somewhere.
I have a feeling Gonzo's next, with any luck. Pretty sure he's lacking both heart and brain.
They're running from this admin like Michael Vick from a PETA meeting, aren't they?

In plain words, Karl Rove has done more damage to this country, Iraq and nations around the world than any living human being. His win at any cost mantra has given us George W. Bush, an immature, lazy and dangerous President, that rules- yes rules- by his own interpretation of human rights and laws. What remains of Bush's presidency is death, destruction, fear, and disrepect around the world and an ununited states of America. Rove has managed to make the lowest of lowest common denominators acceptable making the unexceptable exceptable and all of us aware that nothing is beyond attempting if it means a win, thus dragging us down futher into an abyss of black ugliness that leaves us empty and degraded. What Mr. Rove has done to this country should be a crime, instead he is applauded and will be emulated, insuring that the path he has begun will be followed time and time again, for the sake of a win, never taking into account that every time this Rove path is taken it degregated and cheapens our country and leaves us less respected and left with leaders who can not lead. My hope is that Mr. Rove comes to see how much damage he has done and like Lee Atwater, apologizes and begins to make right what he has done wrong.
