From the KerryVision Vault: JK with Bill Maher

Here's another interesting Kerry interview, this one with Bill Maher from October 2006. The conversation ranges from what JK buys Teresa Heinz Kerry for her birthday to how Democrats can compete with the Republican messaging machine. JK talks about the Republican use of "the fear card" -- remember the orange terror alerts that mysteriously stopped right after the 2004 election? -- and why there's a limit to how much incompetence they can get away with before the fear card stops working. "Katrina has torn away the curtain, and all of America has seen that there clearly isn't any wizard behind the curtain. ...How are these guys going to protect the United States of America against terrorists when they can't even protect us against Congressman Mark Foley?"

This was an outstanding interview. I remember watching it the first time and thinking it was good, but it is even better when watched a second and third time. My gosh, he was so on the mark about things and yes- he was right again. There was promise and hope for 08 when I watched this the first time, some of that has faded with Senator Kerry's decision not to run and the attacks over a mistated joke, but the committment and the goals remain the same and they are very important. Thanks for posting this video, it was wonderful hearing the cheers and support from the audience even two years past the 04 elections,it is obvious the man has charisma and star power.

I love that interview! He just seem so relaxed I thought.

I loved this interview, too, and I remember especially enjoying how relaxed and funny he was, and how the MSM's portrayal of JK in 2004, even in 2006, was completely (deliberately?) off the mark.
