It's the weekend, and there are plenty. Because Senator Kerry hasn't yet commented on the latest Harry Potter, we're going with a quote from JK in response to the Boston Globe's hard-hitting question, "Who is your favorite Simpsons character?"
Personally, I'd go with Lisa. Bright, cynical and blonde, she reminds me a lot of myself. But JK's a Bart fan, and this is about him, so we're going with it.
The Globe article isn't without controversy. The top spot is a toss-up between Homer, Marge and Mr. Burns, but our guy went with the bad boy, Bart. Hmmm ...
OK, Senator, let's hear your best argument. Sure, Bart's got the youth vote, but ai, carumba, he's a bit of a slacker, don't you think?
JOHN KERRY, US senator "I could say my favorite character is Mr. Burns, because thanks to him even after Dick Cheney is out of office he will live on as a cartoon. But I'm actually a Bart fan, despite the fact Time named him one of the 100 most influential people, and I didn't make the list. He once mooned a doctor, indicating he has the same view toward our current health-care system most Americans do."
Despite our differences on this matter, in regard to the 'Time 100', the Senator made top spot on our list.
OK, let's hear from the rest of you. Are you with me or are you with the Senator?

Well in all honesty I can't answer that question because I never really watched the Simpsons on a regular basis.
But as far as the 'Time 100' not including JK, well it shows where their mentality is when they choose cartoon characters over real people, I mean didn't 'Time' choose Bush as "Person of the Year", and (I think, I could be wrong ) more then once.

I'm with fedup!

Lisa, no question.
I disagree with the two previous commenters. If you've never watched The Simpsons, it's easy to write them off, but the show is hardly just a cartoon. I do think, of course, that JK should have been picked over Bart for the Time 100, and regarding Bush, well, Time picked Hitler, Stalin and the Ayatollah Kohmeni, too, so it's not really a contest for 'best person' honors.
Watch this for an interesting clip from The Simpsons.

I should have added that, even as someone who's only seen the Simpsons once or twice, I did thoroughly enjoy Sen. Kerry's remarks in the Globe-- easily the funniest and most mischievous comments of the lot (and there were about 15 or 20 or so comments , as I remember).
Sen. Kerry seems to be having a lot of fun these days, in his new role as a Jedi knight fighting for truth, democracy and the salvation of our country on almost every imaginable front. Though I'd much rather have him in the White House r ight now, or on his way there, it's wonderful to see him in joyous fighting trim.

Derek Smalls, because he's a bass player and so is John Kerry.
Oops, wait, never mind, wrong parody. Sorry. My bad.

This clip is hilarious!
I also agree with nbk -- JK is a Jedi and it's wonderful to see him in fighting form; the 2004 election was like the end of The Empire Strikes Back, when all seems lost, but then comes Return of the Jedi.

GV,
As pertaining to cartoon characters I meant that the 'Time 100' describes this as their definition of their picks.

What about the mayor who sounds just like JFK? I thought he was always funny.
Somewhat related to the topic, I saw a few weeks back that Sen. Kerry's favorite movie of all time is "Animal House". That is hilarious on many levels -- but does everyone remember that the John Belushi character goes on to be a SENATOR? This is a good question for Sen. Kerry: does he find that funny because a) he actually thinks the Senate is full of drunken buffoons like John Belushi or b) given the fact that the good senator majored in flying in his senior year and seemed to have a good time during college, does he identify ever remotely with the John Belushi character? These are the questions Tim Russert never asks.

It may not be a Senator, but a "very senor member of the US Government" that most reminds him of the Belushi character.
As, to our favorite Senator, I doubt he would ever have been rude enough. Not to mention, the Belushi character would not have spent the time on the political Union and would certainly not have been the debate champ. Also, could you imagine the Belusi character flying a plane?
It might be that college was the last time when the Senator was completely carefree.
