A friend of the KV sent us this rockin' clip of Senator John Kerry speaking at the Massacusetts Democratic Convention on the campus of UMass Amherst on May 19. The Senator named names, calling out the litany of Bush administration cronies on their incompetence.
A typical and memorable quote by the Senator garnered laughter and applause from a receptive audience of delegates and visitors:
I've never seen anything like it. These guys - they're quick to take care of their friends. They have never met a hen house they can't find a fox to guard. It's incredible beyond belief to me that they're willing to reward that and reward it publicly in an Orwellian notion about Right and Wrong
Obviously, the Senator's vision has more clarity than the video.

OK. I confess that I had to look up "vulpine". Good word to describe the Bush cronies.
I love this clip! Doesn't matter that it's a bit fuzzy, the Senator is right on target.
I wonder how many Senators are kicking themselves for voting to confirm Gonzales? Most of the Dems voted against his confirmation, but a few of the usual suspects voted to confirm. And all of the Republicans, of course. Let's see now if they wake up and realize that George Bush is NOT the United States of America and that if they don't start voting in the best interest of the American people, they're going to lose their seats next election.
I'm not sure who I would vote for as the most vile Bush Buddy, but George Tenet's got to be near the top of the list. Salon does a good job describing how Tenet is profiting from the war he helped conceive and the truth he helped conceal with this story by Tim Shorrock.

Excellent post and love "vulpine"! JK is consistent in expressing his outrage at the cronyism, corruption and incompetence of this administration. He speaks for every American who holds our country to the standard of honor and dedication to good government set by the Founders. After all, part of the reason for American independence was a revolt against the scandal, cronyism and corruption of late 18th-century Georgian England...

This is your uncorked, very stand-up Kerry, witty and forthright. The mainstream media kept this guy secret, so the country couldn't enjoy, embrace, and elect in a landslide. Well, Massachusetts, you have another chance.
I had to look up Vulpine in a dictionary. Although a fox is a dog, watching Cat on a Hot Tin Roof I learned the word 'mendacity', perfect for these incompetent liars who deceive, saying one thing and meaning another. Like clean air, clear skies, and healthy forests, or when they invade as plunderers, calling it Democracy. They really twisted the ideals of that word.
Didn't get the fjord reference, but Otter is usually steps ahead of me. Alpine, maybe?
Good story about Tenet, GV. Thanks KV team.

Thanks so much for the clip and yes, it is classic JK.
GV and Kerryvisionary, I also had to look that word up and it is perfect. The Senator certainly knows how to make us knowledgable in ways that we even go to a dictionary. Now who else do you know of that stature that would make you do that? He rocks.
Again JK gets it right.

Give 'em hell, Kerry! Great video. Facts and conviction -- an unbeatable combo. Hope our man is going after Verizon, AT&T, and Comcast in just this fashion. As I understand it, they've just won a round in our fight for net neutrality. I know Kerry is firm in his stance that the people need the internet as it stands in order to have a voice in our gov't. May we soon see John Kerry again on the floor of congress fighting for the people's voice to be heard, so imperative if we are to reclaim our democracy from the greedy and power-drunk thugs currently running this gov't.

Ha, ha, good quote. He certainly has this administration figured out, every little crooked part of it.

That was a great speech. Sen. Kerry was preceeded to the microphone by Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, who is the only currently serving African American Governor in America and only the 2nd African American Governor in US history.
In his speech, Governor Patrick talked about going into a predominately minority school system for an event. He recalled being in an office with large glass panels in the front where administrators could see the kids going by to classes during the course of day. Patrick recalled looking up from his work at one point and seeing dozens and dozens of kids of every color and hue pressing in to the glass panels to watch him and excitedly talking to their friends. He overheard one snippet of conversation from the kids where they were pointing at Patrick and telling each other that he was really the Governor of the whole state, he had been elected to lead all of Massachusetts. He looked like them, and, wow, he was the Governor of the whole state. Wow!
I had a tear in my eye when I heard this. Gov. Patrick spoke of how this hope, this small spark of hope just caused him so much pride and at the same time made him feel so humble. It is no small thing to carry hope on one's back and to be a beacon for others to see, be inspired by and rally to.
Senator Kerry's speech just after this was also hopeful. The Senator was full of fire and energy, which was remarkable considering he had just finished a 96 mile bike ride to raise money for charity earlier that day. He spoke of what has gone wrong in the country and also spoke of how we need to put it right. We can do it. We have to summon the will to take on these problems and see them through. But hope was in that room that day. It was a great event.
